RE: Weekly Memo
Meetings for the Week of November 13, 2006
Planning Board Tues., Nov. 14, 6:00 pm, City Hall
We have postponed our November 15 date with facilitator Pam Plumb until we can better organize the schedules of those recently elected. This meeting is to continue the discussions about priorities, roles and responsibilities as was agreed at the last such meeting in September.
On November 29, we expect to meet with the Water District Board of Trustees to receive a briefing from the Maine Turnpike Authority and Maine Department of Transportation officials on a proposed service plaza at the confluence of I 95 and I 295. Primary in this discussion will be the request to provide water and wastewater service to the facility.
Some year-end, long-term issues are scheduled for December 6 and 13, as Council will consider implementation plans for both the Libby Hill expansion and future Waterfront improvements.
Dee Berglund reports good success with consolidating a relatively high turnout election. The previous consolidation had been for the low turnout June primary. Our turnout was 58% on Tuesday. Even at peak times, voters had hardly a two minute wait and the rest of the day waiting was either non-existent or very short. Election staffers had good reports from voters about the improved logistics of a consolidated election. Congratulations to Dee and the elections staff.
