Gardiner's waterfront park redevelopment project is one step closer to construction! On February 19th, at 7 PM, at Gardiner's Boy's & Girls Club, Kent Associates will be conducting a public workshop on the City's waterfront project. The public is encouraged to participate and offer ideas on how they envision the final waterfront park to be built. After a presentation, attendees will break into small groups and have guided discussions on the Waterfront Plan and design ideas. The goal is to get feedback and consensus from each group that will help
guide the development of the final Plan. For a full agenda, please click here. We want to hear from you!
The City accomplished a huge phase of the waterfront project when it installed approximately 525 lineal feet of timber cribbing, boardwalk & railing along the shoreline of the Kennebec River in 2006. Although much progress has been made, the site isn't finished. The next phase will be to develop the green space and parking areas, as well as extend the boardwalk over the original boat launch area.
The City hopes that 2008 will be the year we finish the waterfront park. And, this process is the public's best chance to really have an impact on what it will become!
