Gardiner is excited to announce that a NEW Farmers’ Market will be opening Wednesday, May 21 at 2 PM right here in Gardiner. There will be variety of items provided by eight local producers, including veggies, “ewegurt” (sheep’s milk yogurt) & “moogurt” (cow’s milk yogurt), corn, breads, baked goods, flowers, seedlings, apples, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, eggs, sheep and cow milk cheeses, chicken, turkey, lamb, beef, goat, pork, maple syrup, honey, jams, herbs, wild mushrooms and more as they become available. There is something for everyone!
At 3:30pm the LIVE VEGGIES & FRUITS will be on hand to help Mayor Andy Maclean and market sponsor, Dr. Paul Pidgeon, Gardiner Family Chiropractic, cut the ribbon. This much anticipated market will feature Albee Farming (Alna), Borealis Breads (Wells), Echo Ridge Organic Cheese (Mount Vernon), Laughingstock Farm (Manchester), Long Meadow Farm (W. Gardiner), Popp Farm (Dresden), Snafu Acres Dairy Farm (Monmouth), and Town House Cheese (Whitefield).
The Gardiner Farmers’ Market will be held on The Common park, on Brunswick Avenue, only one block up from historic downtown. The market will be held, rain or shine, from 2 – 6pm every Wednesday through October. In the fall there will be pumpkins and fresh cider made from heirloom apples. The market was organized by Gardiner Main Street as a result of input from residents and local businesses.
