Invasive Garlic Mustard Plant
In April, Toni Pied of the Gardiner Conservation Committee held a public meeting to educate Gardiner residents about the very invasive plant, garlic mustard. A group of volunteers spent a Saturday morning pulling the plant along the banks of Cobbessee Stream and Harrison Ave. Volunteers at the Rachael Carson Wlldlife Refuge are waging the same battle against this invader. New England Cable News (NECN) picked up the story and came to Gardiner to interview Toni. Below is a link to the program which is very information. Garlic Mustard is blooming now. If you find this plant on your property, pull it before it goes to seed. Put it in a heavy plastic bag, seal it and dispose of it with your trash. FMI (207) 512-2588
