HISTORIC HOMES OF GARDINER, MAINE
On Saturday, June 28, 2008, the Gardiner Library Association will host a tour of eight historic houses including the EDWIN ARLINGTON ROBINSON HOUSE, home of Maine’s outstanding Pulitzer Prize winning poet. Also on the tour is the KATE VANNAH HOUSE. Kate was a premier female composer of the early 20th century, and some of her compositions will be played throughout the day. The DR. CLARENCE JACKSON HOUSE was designed by George F. Barber, noted 19th century architect, who some credit with making the Queen Anne style popular in America around the turn of the century. The tour is from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Tickets are $20 and will be sold one week before the tour at the Gardiner Public Library and on the day of the tour in the Peg Shaw Garden adjoining the Library.
