Historic Homes of Gardiner
Saturday, June 28, the Gardiner Library Association is sponsoring the second Historic Homes of Gardiner house tour. This is a great opportunity to visit some beautiful homes, learn about Gardiner’s rich history and support the Gardiner Public Library. Some of the houses include the Edwin Arlington Robinson House, home of Gardiner’s Pulitzer Prize winning poet. A few doors away is the Kate Vannah House. Kate was a nationally known composer of the early 20th century and you will hear some of Kate’s music played during the day. If you’ve ever watched the TV shows about converting old barns or firehouses into a home you won’t
want to miss Central Street School. Rob and Amy Lash have turned this old school building into a fabulous New York-style loft living space. Rob’s studio will also be open and you can see works of this noted Maine sculptor. There are eight houses and one Church on the tour and all have interesting stories to tell. The tour is from 10AM to 3PM. Tickets are $20 and will be on sale in the Peg Shaw Garden of the Library, 152 Water St., Gardiner, ME 04345. FMI: 207-582-3312
