Artist reception at the library (reminder)
LOCAL ARTIST RECEPTION
Children’s Room
Gardiner Public Library
152 Water St.
Gardiner, ME
Tuesday, October 28, 2008 (3pm-5:30pm)

The Gardiner Public Library will host a reception for photographer, Nancy McGinnis on Tuesday, 10/28/08 from 3pm-5:30pm.  Come enjoy some refreshments and join the artist as she displays her work and sells some of her photography including a Birds’-eye view of Gardiner, Maine.  A portion of the proceeds from the sales of her art photography will help defray costs accrued during the Children’s Room Renovation Project at the Gardiner Public Library.

Nancy McGinnis of Hallowell has been passionate about taking pictures since she was seven or eight years old. In recent decades, her freelance photography has appeared in the Boston Globe and Down East Magazine, as well as in the Kennebec Journal and the Capital Weekly. She has won honors ranging from the Kodak KINSA Award to the KVAA People's Choice. Her images often show a unique perspective on everyday things. A licensed pilot, she captured striking birds-eye views of Gardiner from a small plane last year, at the peak of autumn foliage season. McGinnis is an active member of the Kennebec Valley Art Association, the Capital Area Camera Club, and the Gardiner Artwalk. She is also well known for her colorful career as Children's Librarian at Charles M. Bailey Public Library in Winthrop and as Director of the Hubbard Free Library in Hallowell; and for the past eight years has served on the executive board of the Friends of Maine Libraries.

For more information about the artist please visit her website: www.communicado.us

This event is free and opened to the public.  Please call 582-3312 for further information.
