Fogler Library at the University of Maine is engaged in a digital project partnership with the Maine State Library to provide full text access to their extensive combined collections of Maine town reports. Some holdings reach back as early as the 1840s.
Please visit the web site at: http://library.umaine.edu/townreport. From the map you can select the balloon that corresponds to Gardiner or if you prefer there is an alphabetic list to browse. The link will go to a list of holdings that have been converted to full text for web access. In many cases the reports start with the oldest holdings in the combined collections in order to preserve the often brittle documents and to provide access to a rich source of local history. The Gardiner Public Library
encourages members of the Gardiner community to explore this new avenue of resource discovery. Please visit our Community Archives Room from 1pm-5pm (Mondays-Fridays) to research much of the local history of Gardiner…it is fascinating!
