TRAVELS IN ZIMBABWE PROGRAM
The Gardiner Public Library is pleased to host a presentation by Lucia Robinson on her recent visit to Zimbabwe in 2008 on Tuesday, May 5th at 6pm in the Hazzard Reading Room of the library. Come and enjoy a slide presentation as Ms. Robinson discusses her time as a volunteer in a hospital in the northern part of the country and listen to her experiences as she visited an orphanage and a free medicinal herbal clinic. Zimbabwe, formally called Rhodesia, is on the southern part of Africa and is bordered by Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa and Botswana. Since 1987, Robert Mugabe has been the nation’s only ruler and has has dominated the country's political system since independence.
Ms. Robinson received her bachelor’s degree from Vermont College in 1993. In 1994 she started working at Avena Botanicals, a small company in Rockport, Maine, that grows, makes and sells herbal medicine. She also runs her own landscaping company that allows her time to travel in the winter. Come and enjoy this fascinating presentation!
