Children's garden planting and dedication

Gardiner Public Library
Come join us on Saturday, June 6th at 10:30-11:30am as we plant flowers in the Barbara and Norman Temple Children’s Garden.  The plants will be provided, but we ask all helpers to bring their own planting tools.  This event is free and we invite children aged 6 and up to attend.  The garden is located at the back of the library and can be accessed from the back parking lot.  The library is located at 152 Water Street in Gardiner.

On Monday, June 8th at 5:30pm please plan on attending the dedication of this wonderful garden.  Donations towards the garden were made in memory of Barbara and Norman Temple who were both long time supporters of the Gardiner Public Library and members of the Gardiner Library Association.  The donations helped the Association complete their original landscape plans designed after the rehabilitation of the J.W. Robinson Reference Room.  Mayor Andrew MacLean will preside over the ceremony to be held in the garden.  A reception will be held immediately after the dedication in the Hazzard Reading Room of the library.

The Gardiner Library Association wishes to thank everyone who made donations towards this project.  The Association especially wishes to thank Longfellow’s Greenhouses in Manchester for their generous donation of some of the flowers and Gary Ladner Landscaping for working so hard getting the garden prepared.  The Association extends some very special graditudes to the city’s wonderful Building and Grounds crew, Pat Chadwick, Larry Whitmore and Bill Byrne as they enthusiastically assisted the library by maintaining the lawn and installing the memorial plaque.   For more information call the library at 582-3312.
