Good news!
The Northbound lanes are of I-295 between Topsham and Gardiner will open today between 2 PM and 3 PM.
I-295 Southbound is being converted back to handling southbound traffic so it will not be open for one to two more days. Local traffic is encouraged to continue using Route 201. Trucks and other traffic heading to Portland and points south should use the Turnpike.
Through September you will still see crews working on signs, guardrails and other details, so please drive carefully. This work may necessitate partial ramp closures at night and sporadic lane closures during the day.
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all Maine motorists, local residents along Route 201 and visitors to the state for your patience and cooperation. We are excited to be able to finish the project ahead of schedule.
