Library birthday party postponed
Due to the passing of former Mayor Rines, the staff of the Gardiner Public Library has decided to POSTPONE the birthday celebration. "Our community will be celebrating the life of Dr. Rines on November 30th and we felt that the library brithday party should be postponed a few weeks so that our library community may attend the funeral of Dr. Rines" says Anne Davis, Director of Library and Information Services.  Dr. Brian Rines passed away on Friday, November 25th at his home in South Gardiner.  The library birthday party has been re-scheduled for Thursday, December 15th from 11AM until 2PM.  The original email, with the new date, follows:
The staff at the Gardiner Public Library wants you to come help celebrate the library's birthday on  Thursday, December 15th from 11AM until 2PM.  Though we are unsure of the exact opening date, Henry Richards submitted the final building plans in June, 1881 and the work progressed rapidly.  For 130 years, this gorgeous building at 152 Water Street sits as the beacon of culture and learning for the Greater Gardiner community.

We would like to invite everyone to come visit, look at the renovations of both the Children's Room and the main floor and have a piece of birthday cake! (while supplies last)  We are so excited to be a part of this birthday celebration as we look forward to serving our community for many more years to come!  For more information about the library visit our website at or call us at 207-582-3312.
