Kennebec Emergency Management Agency is working to get monitoring devices on the ice jam. There are some technical problems to over come but expect to have monitoring devices in place soon. The ice jam north of the Gardiner continues to hold, cold weather has added ice to the river below the bridge reinforcing the fact that if the ice jam moves it has little or no place to go. Businesses, residents and anyone with interests along the Kennebec River should be prepared for fast high rising water levels if the ice jam breaks and gets lodged south of Gardiner. Make plans now for the
possibility of flooding. Have alternate plans for parking your vehicle and if you have to leave your place of residence, a place to stay if power needs to be shut off.
