As of today February 17, 2010 there have been no changes on the ice dam in Farmingdale . Maine Emergency Management, Kennebec Emergency Management and Gardiner Fire continue to monitor the situation. Long term weather forecast seem to be in our favor right now, warm days and refreezing at night is good. River ice monitoring equipment should be in place within a week according to K.E.M.A. Coast Guard ice breakers are due to return the second and third week of March to try and clear out the river in and below Gardiner. Anyone with ice shacks on the river should be
aware of the ice breakers arriving starting on the 8th of March. Gardiner Fire is looking into the use of Reverse 911 to alert parties with interest along the river. As with any technology we use there may be problems we cannot overcome.
