West Street Sewer Main Upgrade and Odor Control Study
The City of Gardiner, Maine is requesting engineering services related to resolving sanitary sewer odors on West Street.
This Request for Proposals (RFP) includes two components as listed below: Firms may respond to the entire RFP or respond to either one of the two sections below indentified as Task I and Task II.
Pump Station One delivers wastewater via an extremely long six inch force main to a terminus manhole and eight inch gravity sewer main located on West Street. Pump Station One is one of five stations (the other four pump to pump station one) that service Libby Hill Business Park and Brunswick Avenue area (from West Street to Libby Hill Business Park) delivering wastewater to the Gardiner Wastewater Treatment Plant. One of the factors contributing to the odors issues experienced along West Street is the steep hill which compresses sewer gas during the delivery of wastewater to Water Street. The primary focus of the tasks listed below is to eliminate sewer odors experienced at private residences located on West Street. Firms are encouraged to give an opinion of the likelihood of resolving the odor issues on West Street as
part of the response to Task I and or Task II.
