The Gardiner Public Library proudly hosts a display by the Samuel Grant Chapter of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) that celebrates the U.S. Constitution. Come visit our beautiful Hazzard Reading Room and view the proclamations from the State of Maine and the City of Gardiner declaring September 17th through September 23rd Constitution Week.
Library staff has also set up a companion display of titles that both adults and children might enjoy. The U.S. Constitution was adopted on September 17, 1787 by the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and ratified by conventions in each U.S. state in the name of "The People". The Constitution has been amended twenty-seven times; the first ten amendments are known as the Bill of Rights.
