Property at 18 Dennis Street, Gardiner Maine
The City of Gardiner is soliciting proposals for rehabilitation and re-use of the property at 18 Dennis Street, Gardiner Maine, City tax map 034, lot 181. The City recently acquired the property for unpaid taxes and sewer fees of approximately $32,435.16. A packet containing City records pertaining to this property including assessing records and the City’s tax liens and tax lien foreclosure notices is attached.
The property is a two-story, converted carriage house that was built in 1903 as part of an estate. The carriage house was built in a “shingle style” as designed by noted architect John Calvin Stevens. It contains approximately 13 rooms and 4,735 square feet living space. The lot is approximately .51acres in a high density residentially zoned area. All systems appear to need upgrade or replacement. The foundation is in need of significant repair and the roof has leaks. There is also a significant amount of accumulated debris inside.
An inspection of the property will be held at the site on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 10 a.m. (snow date Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 10 a.m.). Proposals are due March 1, 2011
