New library website

Anne Davis, Director of Library and Information Services for the City of Gardiner, is pleased to announce the launching of a new website for the library.  The URL address is the same, www.gpl.lib.me.us, but the design has been totally redone.  Davis explains that the original site was designed almost 14 years ago by a library volunteer who developed it for her Master of Library Science project.  “It has worked well for us for these many years, but clearly technology and design have changed dramatically over those years!”  This new website gives visitors easier access to the online catalog, to the E.A. Robinson website, to the audiobook download site and to the library’s calendar of events.  It also allows staff to edit the site so that it can be refreshed and updated in a more timely fashion.

Davis hired a local design company, Vivid Web Design, to do the upgrade.  “They listened to what we wanted in a website and created this wonderful new design.  We also have added a “support” link that will allow visitors to make online donations to the Gardiner Library Association.  This way, our virtual library users can show their support without writing a check.”

The Gardiner Library Association has also opened Book It! -a bookstore in downtown Gardiner that is dedicated to raising funds for the final phase of the interior restoration of the Community Archives Room.  The estimated cost of the renovations is $163,000.  If you would like to make a donation to this project, please call Anne Davis, Director of Library and Information Services at 207-582-3312.
