                        Household Hazardous Waste One-Day Drop-off Event

Including Unused Medications Plus– Television and Computer Monitor, Ewaste recycling – BOTH FREE OF CHARGE
A regional 1-day Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Augusta Public Works Complex located at 55 North Street in Augusta.  The following communities are participating:  Augusta, Belgrade, Fayette, Gardiner, Hallowell, Manchester, Monmouth, Readfield, Wayne, and Winthrop.   Kennebec Valley Council of Governments is assisting with project coordination. Residents of these communities need to register with their individual town.  Pre-registration is required.

Environmental Projects Inc of Auburn, Maine will collect, recycle, and dispose of household hazardous materials.  

Ewaste Solutions of Auburn, Maine will collect and recycle televisions, computer monitors, and e-waste free of charge, limit of 7 pieces per vehicle.  

Maine General Health and Healthy Communities of the Capital Area along with Community Pharmacies will collect unused, unwanted, outdated medications.  All medication will be disposed of in an environmentally appropriate manner. Leave medications in original containers.  There are also six satellite locations that will be accepting medications.
