IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ABSENTEE VOTERS
IN STATE REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT 59
Attn: Absentee Voters in State Representative District 59:
The Republican candidate for House District 59 who was nominated at the June Primary, Daniel Bates, unexpectedly passed away. A replacement candidate, Shirley W. Hanley, was nominated by the party committee. Her name was not included on the absentee ballot that was issued to you previously as she had not yet been nominated at that time.
If you already requested a ballot or voted in the clerk's office, you will be issued a second absentee ballot by our office. In order for this second absentee ballot to be counted, you must mark the ballot and return it to the clerk in the return envelope provided. The clerk's office must receive the second absentee ballot by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6, 2012, in order for the ballot to be counted. If the second absentee ballot is returned by 8 p.m. on Election Day, the first absentee ballot, if it has also been returned, will remain sealed in its envelope and will not be counted.
If the clerk's office does not receive the second absentee ballot by the above deadline, then your first absentee ballot will be processed and counted. If you voted for Daniel Bates, your vote for that office will be counted as a blank but all other valid votes will be counted.
