Meet your representative at the library
The staff of the Gardiner Public Library is pleased to host a “fireside chat” with newly elected Representative Gay Grant, who represents Maine House District 59, Gardiner and Randolph.  Please plan to join her on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 10-11AM in the Hazzard Reading Room.

Rep. Grant said the new legislative session is set to begin Jan 8, and the deadline for submitting bills is January 18, so she wants to be sure she has heard from constituents about specific bills they might like to have her submit, and about what issues are of most importance to them.

Grant said she is pleased that she will serve on the legislature’s Environment and Natural Resources Committee, given the importance of the Kennebec River and other natural resources to the region’s economy and quality of life. Grant, who formerly served on the School Administrative District 11 school board, said overall the economy is the single biggest issue facing Maine, and she will be working on a number of issues impacting job creation and economic development.

“People need jobs that pay a livable wage,” Grant said. “In order to grow the economy we need to focus on education, for our children and young people, and for adults who must upgrade their skills for this competitive global economy. We also need to do a better job marketing Maine as a great place to live and do business.”

The library is located at 152 Water Street, Gardiner. Refreshments will be served.  For more information, please call 207-582-3312.
