Parts of the City of Gardiner’s downtown may experience high water conditions and the potential of flooding exists. The water levels along the Kennebec River and Cobbossee Stream will be closely monitored until further notice.
The two areas that have the most potential to be flooded are the Arcade Parking Lot and the Gardiner Landing/Waterfront area. Buildings with basements that connect to the Arcade Lot have the potential to flood. The Arcade Lot and the Gardiner Landing/Waterfront will remain open until Gardiner City Officials decide that the water has reached an unsafe level. All property and vehicle owners should pay very close attention to the water levels and be ready to move their property as need be.
If needed, the Gardiner Police may have vehicles towed from the Arcade Lot or Waterfront at the owners’ expense, should they pose a hazard.
Please pay close attention to the Arcade Lot and the water levels of Cobbossee Stream.
Flood alerts will be posted on the city website, www.Gardinermaine.com, and on the Gardiner Police Department’s facebook page. We also encourage you to sign up for free text and email alerts via www.NIXLE.com.
