Paul Betit
Former Portland Press Herald sportswriter Paul Betit will present an author’s talk at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the Hazzard Reading Room at the Gardiner Public Library, 152 Water St., Gardiner.  In addition to talking about his three mystery-suspense novels, the Brunswick writer will share back stories and discuss his writing regimen and the creative process.
Betit’s crime series, featuring U.S. Army CID investigator John Murphy and set in the 1960s and 70s, includes Phu Bai, Kagnew Station and the recently published The Man In The Canal.
In this well-crafted and suspenseful mystery, (Betit) taps into his 1960s military service in Vietnam as background for his tale,” said Lloyd Ferris, in his recent review of Betit’s latest novel in the Maine Sunday Telegram. “This is Betit’s third novel set overseas during the Vietnam War. It’s the best of the trilogy.”
