Children's librarian to retire

Anne Davis, Director of the Gardiner Public Library, unofficially declares Friday, May 15th Charlene Wagner Day at the library.  After 35 short years, Charlene Wagner is retiring as the Children’s Librarian for Gardiner.  During her tenure as librarian, Charlene instilled a love of reading to several generations of children.  Each day Charlene would welcome kids to the magical space called the Children’s Room and help children discover the stories of kings, queens, dragons, brave children, good dogs and heroes throughout the centuries.  She worked through a leaky roof pooling water into buckets, she worked through cold winters when the heat was inadequate and she suffered through sweltering summers with no air-conditioning.  She survived the construction and renovation of this spectacular space called the Gardiner Public Library Children’s Room with a smile and continued in her mission to hook a child up with a book.

Please plan on stopping in before she retires to say goodbye to this very dedicated librarian.  The library is located at 152 Water Street.
