State of Maine Unclaimed Property
State of Maine - Unclaimed Property

Each year, millions of dollars are forwarded to the State Treasurer’s Office from businesses and organizations that have lost contact with owners of financial assets. When these financial assets are reported to the State Treasurer, they are considered Unclaimed Property and are held forever for the rightful owner to claim.

Examples of commonly held financial assets are: bank accounts, pay checks, stocks, bonds, rebates, insurance proceeds, tax refunds, store credits, safe deposit contents, and miscellaneous uncashed checks. The State Treasurer’s goal is to reunite these lost assets with their rightful owners.
