State BLS Reduces Gardiner's Fine by 90% for it's Swift Compliance with Workplace Safety Violations
Initial Fine of $9,000 Reduced to $900 as City Corrects all 69 Citations a Month Ahead of Deadline
The City of Gardiner was rewarded for its swift action in addressing 69 workplace safety violations uncovered by a State agency this past summer by having its original $9,000 fine reduced to only $900 - a 90% reduction. In a letter from Maine Bureau of Labor Standards (BLS) Director Pamela Megathlin in which she reduces the fine, Megathlin notes that "all citations have been corrected" and thanks Gardiner's staff for their "expeditious attention in this matter."
