Cobbossee Water District announcement

From Cobbossee Watershed District on October 23, 2017:
A 1 foot drawdown of Pleasant Pond and Cobbossee Stream will begin Monday, October 30th.  The pond is currently a little more than a foot below full.  The pond level has gradually declined about three quarters of a foot in the last month.   The Cobbossee Lake drawdown began today, October 23rd.  The New Mills Dam operator has today also opened a gate, to pass the water coming from Cobbossee Lake.  Next week there will be another gate adjustment at the New Mills Dam, to lower Pleasant Pond and Cobbossee Stream (above the dam) to get ready for winter.  If the weather cooperates, this drawdown can be done at a steady pace over a three week period.  Rain complicates this process and could cause the water level to come up and delay the drawdown. The drawdown is conducted by the dam owners – Gardiner, Litchfield, and Richmond – through their dam operators, in coordination with monitoring and recommendations from Cobbossee Watershed District and the New Mills Dam Committee.  Contact CWD with any questions at 207-377-7111 or
