Gardiner, Maine (1-19-2018)
The Coast Guard is planning to bring up a 140-foot cutter up the Kennebec River on Wednesday or Thursday depending on the tides. Plans on timing of the cutter are ongoing. There is some snow and rain mix predicted to begin on Monday and last into Tuesday but we don’t expect that this weather is enough to impact the ice jam that is in the Kennebec River just above the Gardiner/Farmingdale town line.
At this point there are no alerts, watches or warnings on the river though this may change at any time. Please keep in mind that the river can come up at any point and very quickly. We encourage anyone who has concerns about flooding to continue monitoring our alert system and keeping an eye on the river.
