5.      DISCUSSION OF MASONIC CORPORATION LETTER

Manager Kobrock stated that when the City transferred the property to the Masons there were deed restrictions controlling how the property might be transferred by the Masons to another party.  Rebecca St. Pierre, President of Gardiner Masonic Corporation stated that the Masonic Corporation can no longer take care of the property, and that the offer made by Gardiner Savings was an earnest offer and they would like to proceed.  Gardiner Savings is interested in using the property as a warehouse. The Council showed concern  as to whether there could be a deed restriction still in place with the sale. Councilor Benner asked if the property could be used for housing, Manager Kobrock stated that the property could be inspected for that use, and he would report back to the Council on July 14th.
