Workshop with MSAD #11 School Board
1. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Rines called the meeting to order at 8:00 PM.

3. PETITIONS, COMMUNICATIONS, RESOLUTIONS, & PUBLIC HEARINGS
3.1 Consideration of Comments from the Public on Issues that
Do Not Appear Elsewhere on the Agenda (Please limit comments
to five minutes.)
Mr. Kistner came before the Council with concerns about tires being slashed on High Holborn Street.
4. NEW BUSINESS
4.1 Consideration of Order 06-10, First Reading of $860,600 General Obligation Capital Improvement Bond (Wastewater Treatment, Road and Storm Drain.)
Mayor Rines stated that there was not the required six Councilors exclusive of the Mayor to pass this item and was tabled to do another time. Manager Kobrock stated that he would like the Council to think about waiving the second reading at the time of the first reading, the project is already under way.
4.2 Consideration of Funding for Celebrate Downtown Gardiner Fireworks.
Mayor Rines stated that TD Banknorth has agreed to sponsor the Rotary Club fireworks. Rusty Greenleaf recently asked for help after Gardiner Savings withdrew their sponsorship.
Mayor Rines asked if there were any objections to adding an Addendum Item, there were none.
1. Consideration of Mayor Appointments to Various Boards or Commissions.
Mayor Rines asked the Council to accept the appointment of William Barron of South Gardiner to Gardiner Water District Board of Trustees.
Motion by Councilor Colwell and seconded by Councilor Rambo to Appoint William Barron to the Gardiner Water District Board of Trustees.
Vote: 6 in favor 0 – opposed Motion: passes
5. CITY MANAGER REPORT
Manager Kobrock stated that June 7th Erick Stumpfel will be scheduled to come
and speak to the Council about the Pray Street School transfer.
Recently the City of Augusta was asked to accept the screenings from the
Wastewater Treatment Plant, and they did. They are not hazardous but are a
special waste, it saves the transportation to Norridgewock and, it is a savings for
the City of Gardiner. Manager Kobrock will write a letter of thank you.
The Police Department distributed a flyer this afternoon regarding a sexual predator, who was residing on Brunswick Avenue, but the person has left town.
6. COUNCIL DISCUSSION
Councilor Rambo remarked that recently the pedestrians trying to cross at the Common has become dangerous because the cross walks stripes on the road aren’t visible. Manager Kobrock stated that the weather needs to be warmer to paint, once it is, it will done. Councilor Rambo also suggested putting together a small group of city and school officials to look for ways they could work together more closely and possibly consolidate some operations, stating that he would like to work with the group. Councilor Nickless stated that he would be interested in working with the group also.
7. ADJOURNMENT TO BUDGET WORKSHOP
Mayor Rines adjourned the meeting to go into budget workshop at 9:15 pm.
