INTRODUCTION
The Department of Planning and Code Enforcement provides services that guide the physical development of Gardiner toward the achievement of community goals. These services include, but are not limited to, site plan development, building and plumbing inspections; code and ordinance review; and enforcement of land use, building, and life safety regulations.
1. THE CODE ENFORCEMENT DIVISION is responsible for building permits and enforcement of land use ordinances, life safety codes, building codes, state statutes and regulations associated with land development. The Code Enforcement Office is located at City Hall.
2. THE PLUMBING DIVISION is responsible for internal and external plumbing permits, questions, inspections, and enforcement. The Plumbing Division is responsible for Maine State Internal and External Plumbing Code administration. The Plumbing Division Office is located at City Hall.
3. THE PLANNING DIVISION administers planning projects such as site plan review, development consultation, zoning ordinance interpretation, subdivision, comprehensive planning, historic preservation, and ordinance implementation. The Planning Division is located at City Hall.
