Gardiner's Waterfront Improvement Project is a jewel in the crown of the City's Downtown Revitalization Initiatives. The project will provide greatly increased access to the Kennebec River and enhance open space and recreational opportunities. The project has been made possible by the City's purchase of the Webber Oil Company properties which stand directly between Gardiner's existing Kennebec Wharf/waterfront park and a large parcel of land owned by the State of Maine in connection with the "lower road" railroad line. This purchase was made possible by the Gardiner Rotary Club and the Land for Maine's Future program. Below is a beautiful view from the newly built southern corner of the boardwalk.
