The Code Enforcement Division is responsible for building permits and enforcement of land use ordinances, life safety codes, building codes, state statutes and regulations associated with land development. The Code Enforcement Office is located at City Hall.
The purpose of the Code Enforcement Division is to work in partnership with the people of Gardiner by providing effective and consistent code, statute and ordinance administration. Code Enforcement Division administration includes the following:
° Pre-construction site inspections including setback determinations, building envelope assessment, vegetative cutting, building layout, excavation, high water determination, and drainage.
° Construction inspection includes rough framing, setbacks, life safety code, disability accessibility, foundation, building alteration, egress, interior environmental requirements, swimming pools, fire protection systems, structural, masonry units, exterior walls, signs, site maintenance, retaining walls, and erosion control.
° Post construction inspections include occupancy permits, site stabilization, life safety, interior and exterior, single family electrical, and handicap accessibility.
° Building permit review projects begin with the review of building permits and construction plans for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings and structures.
° Enforcement of Floodplain, Shoreland, Gardiner Zoning Ordinance, Life Safety Code, Building Code, State Statutes, and City of Gardiner Code.
