Walt Weymouth: Rising Country Star at Johnson Hall April 15
Walter Weymouth and Ryan Reed will play at Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center, 280 Water Street, Gardiner, on Friday, April 15 at 7 pm. Walter Weymouth is a prize-winning country singer/ songwriter from Pittston, Maine. Weymouth’s CD, Common Man; just won the North American Country Music Association International’s “Best Album” award this month in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and also won Down East Country Music Association’s (DECMA) “2010 Country Album of the Year.”
Weymouth won “2010 Male Vocalist New Country;” and “2010 New Country Songwriter” for his song “Back in Time,” a tune that also won him the “2010 New Country Songwriter” from the Northeast Invitational Country Showdown in Massachusetts. In 2009, Weymouth won the Maine Academy of Country Music Male Country Singer award. Together, Weymouth and Reed won DECMA’s “2010 New Country Vocal Duet Future Star.”
Weymouth’s voice has been compared to Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley and Chris Isaak … but as his own music matures and grows, its own depth and reach is all his own. “Common Man,” the title track of his CD, fills the listener with Weymouth’s power. The talent behind it is far from common.
Walter lives with his wife Jan and five children in Pittston, and is currently working on his second CD. His first CD, Common Man, is available at Musician’s 1st Choice in Augusta, and online at CDBaby.com or itunes.com. CDs are also available at 201-588-0453.
The show was postponed in February due to weather, but had been sold out. There may now be a few tickets available at $10. Please call 588-0453, 441-8158 or 582-5281. .
