UPCOMING MEETINGS
City Council Meeting, Wednesday, March 5 Agenda
For Next Week's City Meetings are available on our Calendar
Public Works
As we have all expected and discussed from time to time, the unusually heavy winter weather has ravaged our Public Works budget. Chuck Applebee, Reggie Grant and the entire staff have attempted to control costs and save wherever possible. However, the severity of the winter created conditions far beyond any effort to avoid budget problems. At the upcoming Council meeting we will look at the very expanded scope of operations this winter and the options available to us to continue the fine services Public Works has provided to the community under extremely harsh conditions.
In fact this is the real story of the winter – the dedication of our personnel to keep our roads and sidewalks exceptionally safe and serviceable. The long hours, back to back, due to repeated storms and the clean up operations that continue days after the storm event itself, are a very apparent measure of the dedication to public service that our Public Works department is exemplifying in a very dramatic form this winter. We extend our appreciation and respect to you all.
Fire/Rescue
We have recently been successful in filling the two “day shift” positions in Fire/Rescue and will soon discuss with Council the start up of the Life/Safety Inspection program made possible with the additional personnel in this department.
