CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE
WEEKLY MEMORANDUM

TO:     Mayor MacLean, Councilors and Department Heads
FROM:   Jeffrey Kobrock, City Manager
DATE:   January 16, 2009
RE:     Weekly Memo

UPCOMING MEETINGS
Next Week's City Council Workshop Agenda
Next Week's City Meetings are available on our Calendar

Governance/Goal Setting Workshops

The next two weeks we will devote to facilitated workshops. The first will focus on governance issues and the second on planning and goal development. A workshop agenda and important background documents are include in the packet. We have a tradition of conducting these types of workshops and they are often some of the most meaningful work the Council does – as the roles, responsibilities and priorities developed govern all aspects of Council and staff activities for the foreseeable future.

Waterfront Design Process

In keeping with the "lightening speed" goal for moving this project forward, the deadline for engineering assistance was January 15. An unprecedented twelve firms responded to our request for proposals for design, bidding and construction management services for the waterfront project. This is strong indication of the statewide recognition this project has generated. Jason intends to finish up a selection process with a recommendation for Council consideration on February 4.
