CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE
WEEKLY MEMORANDUM

TO:     Mayor MacLean, Councilors and Department Heads
FROM:   Jeffrey Kobrock, City Manager
DATE:   January 18, 2008
RE:     Weekly Memo

UPCOMING MEETINGS

City Council Meeting, City Council Room, January 23, 7 p.m.

I will be having surgery on January 24 and may not return for a week or more. There will be no packet on January 25. The Senior Management Team will provide coverage in my absence: Anne Davis - January 24-27th , Jason Simcock – January 28-30th , Chuck Applebee – January 31-February 1st.

Fire Department

The Fire Department will be receiving a SHAPE (Safety and Health Award for Public Employers) from the Department of Labor at the upcoming Council meeting. This award recognizes excellence in safety awareness and operations. Congratulations to Mark and the entire Department.

Planning and Development

Jason Simcock will be representing Gardiner at the MEREDA (Maine Real Estate Developers Association) conference next week in Portland. We have had a presence at this event for many years. With Phase Two of the Business Park very close to final permitting, he will have lots to talk about!

The bundled projects have been initiated in a big way. Jason has needed a clone recently to cover all the bases. It is very exciting to see such meaningful work take off.
