UPCOMING MEETINGS
Next Week's City Meetings are available on our Calendar
Below please find an update on recent City activities:
- Congratulations to the Fire Department for securing two grants recently that require no City match! These grants, totaling nearly $50,000 from the Maine Emergency Management Agency, will allow for a new generator for Gardiner’s emergency shelter and for a replacement communications tower behind the fire station.
- Tonight I will be attending the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Awards banquet, along with several members of this Council. Gardiner businessman Steve Marson will be receiving the President’s Award for his Central Maine Pyrotechnics business. Lapointe Lumber, which operates stores in Augusta and Gardiner, will receive the Chamber’s Business of the Year award. Congratulations to both!
- This week I attended the Maine Municipal Association’s Legislative Policy Committee, where municipal leaders from across the State reviewed and debated on what position the MMA should take in regards to a number of bills that have been filed at the State House. All told, we voted to either support, oppose, or take no position on over 30 pieces of legislation. The committee meets quarterly and during these meetings I also serve as a representative on the Taxation & Education Subcommittee.
As always, I appreciate the opportunity to serve the people of Gardiner as City Manager.
