Kennebec River Rail Trail

Another important milestone in the development of the KRRT is near. With the completion of the trail, the Board of Supervisors has developed the first maintenance budget as required by the interlocal agreement governing development and management of the trail. All four municipalities the trail runs through will be asked to support maintenance of the trail in FY 09, in association with the Friends of the Rail Trail. The proposed budget was formerly passed along to the four communities earlier this week, but further follow up is necessary to address the details of implementation should the individual communities fund the budget.

Posting Roads

We are posting local roads to heavy truck traffic to alleviate damage. As the frost comes out of the ground, roads are very susceptible to significant damage. This is the first year we are posting roads, and some difficulty adjusting to the new regulation will be likely.
