UPCOMING MEETINGS
Next Week's City Meetings are available on our Calendar
Below please find an update on recent City activities:
- Attached please find the May financial report for general fund revenues/expenditures, as well as revenues and expenditures for the enterprise and other funds.
- The Gardiner Police Department will be hosting a National Night Out on Tuesday, August 3 from 6-8 p.m. on the Gardiner Common. I invite members of the council and public to attend this free event where you can meeting members of the PD, see K-9 and bomb robot demonstrations, and participate in a vehicle rollover simulator. There will be a bouncy castle and face painting for the kids and free food for all! For more information, please call 582-5150.
- I am pleased to announce to the Council that I have received a partial scholarship to attend the 2010 International City/County Management Association’s (ICMA) annual conference in October. The scholarship pays for registration and a portion of the travel expenses associated with the event. The ICMA is the international organization for municipal and county managers and its annual conference offers an abundance of educational, information-sharing, and networking opportunities that I will be able to take advantage of and help improve City operations. Some of the forums I plan on attending include regionalization and shared services between small communities, marketing to encourage economic development, reducing energy costs at wastewater facilities, and many more. Last year, over 2,500 municipal leaders attended this
conference and I look forward to being one of those attendees this year and bringing this knowledge back to Gardiner.
- Congratulations to Library Director Anne Davis, who on Wednesday night secured funding from Randolph Town Meeting for library services. Including the three other communities served by the Library (West Gardiner, Litchfield, and Pittston), the Library will generate over $80,000 in revenue for the FY11 budget.
As always, I appreciate the opportunity to serve the people of Gardiner as City Manager.
