Below please find an update on recent City activities:
- Attached to this memo please find the July, 2010 monthly financial statements for the City (comments)
- Congratulations to Chuck Applebee, Director of Wastewater and Public Works, for being nominated to serve as the Maine State Director of the New England Water Environment Association. This highly sought after position represents Maine at the New England level regarding wastewater issues. The NEWA executive committee will vote in early September on Chuck’s nomination for this position, which would run through January 2013.
- The Gardiner Public Library has just purchased an iPad to be used in their Young Adult section.~ Library Director Anne Davis said they purchased this device so that teenagers can access the internet, listen to music and socialize together after school.~ The iPad purchase was made possible through an Opportunity Online Hardware Grant awarded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.~ Gardiner’s library now has two netbooks and one iPad set up in this section of the library.~ The staff of the library would be happy to demonstrate this new technology to those interested.
- A reminder that the “Barks in the Park” event will be held on Saturday, August 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Common. This event, sponsored by Gardiner Main Street, is intended for dog owners and their pets.
