City Staff
Officer Peter Griffin has been named the new School Resource Officer, to replace Julian Harwood who was recruited away by former Gardiner officer and present Greenville Chief Scott MacMaster. Julian was SRO for three years. Peter is well suited given his eight years as a juvenile probation officer in between his past and present service as a Gardiner officer. Stacy Blair has been elevated to Sergeant as a result of Stan Guilmette’s retirement.
Jason Simcock is well on his way to recognition as a certified Maine Economic Development professional after a recent 32 hour course in Portland.
We have found an outstanding candidate for our new part time Finance Director position. Sandy Runyon (yes, our audit firm does share his name as a founding partner) has determined retirement is not as exciting as anticipated, and is looking forward to the challenges of our newly created position. He will start his duties October 4.
Waterfront
A combination of warrantee and repair work is being done by Reed and Reed Contractors on the waterfront this week. There were a number of items that needed attention and we were able to save some costs by combining the warrantee and repair items.
Fall Clean Up
A flyer with all the pertinent information on Fall Clean Up is enclosed in the packet, on the web site and at the front counter. We start with District 4 this year during the first week of October and end with District 1 during the fourth week of October. Permits are still $20, and universal waste (PC’s, TV’s) are $10. These fees are designed to simply cover the out of pocket costs – actual disposal costs at Hatch Hill - not the costs of fuel, equipment,
labor, etc. Remember, this is the inaugural annual clean up, after many years of biennial clean ups.
