RE: Weekly Memo
Missing Child
Our police department did a great job yesterday responding to a serious incident at the Middle School. In cooperation with the State Police and Wardens the seventh grader was found at a residence on West Hill Road about six hours after his disappearance. He had wandered into the woods during recess and traveled along trails to arrive at West Hill Road. Gardiner Police Department handled the event with professionalism and the focus on positive outcomes that is their hallmark. The community is thankful.
Bridge Repair
The bridge repair project has shifted to phase two with changes in traffic patterns. Although this is the second phase, about two thirds of the work has been completed. The project is still on track to conclude mid to late October. A traffic officer was implemented recently and will be used on the Gardiner side for weekday mornings as needed. The increased traffic caused by schools opening was just enough to push beyond the already strained capacity of the intersections.
Open House
The Gardiner Food Center will hold its open house (and yard sale) on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm at 567 Brunswick Road.
Council Schedule
We will meet next Wednesday, September 26, rather than this coming Wednesday the 19th.
