UPCOMING MEETINGS
Next Week's City Meetings are available on our Calendar
Day of Caring
The Gardiner Day of Caring is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15. We expect approximately 120 high school students to participate and about half of those focused on municipal projects. The Common, Downtown and cemeteries are all slated for attention. Principal Chad Kempton and Assistant Principal Jackie Pare at GAHS have partnered with Chuck Applebee and EJ Prescott to organize this important community improvement event. EJ Prescott will provide support for supervising and equipping teams of students without which this event would dramatically downsized. The Conservation Committee will also play an important supervision role.
Energy Committee
An energy committee has been formed to look at potential savings in the area of energy. The committee is diverse in its composition, representing all departments and all levels within the organization. The committee will explore a whole range of energy saving options, including those that:
Are relatively easy and quick to accomplish (but as a single effort may not result in dramatic impact).
Require planning and lead time.
Require investments and analyzing the return.
Require changes in policies, procedures or service delivery.
A good relationship has already been created with Saco, where a greater ability to make investments and fund improvements, or dedicate resources to research/experimentation, has led to a wealth of baseline information for use in decision making. This committee will keep an eye on the calendar, coordinating some of its activities with the budget cycle.
