RE: Weekly Memo
Upcoming Meetings
City Council Meeting, Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 7 p.m.
Canopy Grant
We will be planting more trees next week with funding from the Canopy program. Jason Simcock and Reggie Grant determined the priority spots for trees this past week. The trees will go in the downtown area as part of our ongoing replacement program.
Conservation Committee
Our very energetic Conservation Committee is following up their hard work at the old Webber garage site and the Steamboat Lane Trail with another project. Next week they will begin planting 1,300 tulips! In preparation, you may have seen City staff removing sod in visible areas throughout the center of town.
Waterfront FEMA Grant
Our recent discussion of the Waterfront coincided perfectly with FEMA reimbursement. That very day we had received FEMA funding for the damage caused last spring to the area adjacent to the boardwalk. Since then we have taken time to think through our most reasonable options. Rather than replace the fill and attempt to stabilize the area this fall, we will wait until next spring when we are assured of getting a good stable root base to the grass before surviving a winter and spring. We will be sure to get to this as soon as weather permits next spring so that use by the public of the area is interrupted as little as possible.
