CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE
WEEKLY MEMORANDUM

TO:     Mayor MacLean, Councilors and Department Heads
FROM:   Jeffrey Kobrock, City Manager
DATE:   October 3, 2008
RE:     Weekly Memo

UPCOMING MEETINGS

Next Week's City Meetings are available on our Calendar

Elections

Indications are that we may experience a record turnout. More than 100 absentee requests have been received already, 75 of those online and we started absentee voting earlier this week.   The State is prepared for a 42% absentee turnout.. The last presidential election we processed about 700 absentee ballots and we plan to handle 1700 this election.  A significant improvement to absentee voting allows us to process accumulated ballots the day before elections, streamlining operations significantly for Election Day itself.

Absentee voting will be available outside of normal City Hall hours as follows:
Monday, October 20, Noon – 6 pm at Riverview School
Saturday, October 25, 9 am to 1 pm at City Hall
Tuesday, October 28, 5:30 – 7:30 pm City Hall
Council Schedule

Business meetings are scheduled for October 15 and November 5. We have scheduled two facilitated meetings November 12 and 19 to update our Mission Statement, Best Practices for Good Governance, Governance Principles and Goal Statement. And although it seems nearly impossible to believe that we are already scheduling around the holidays, we plan to meet December 3 and 10 before adjourning for the holiday season.
