WEEKLY MEMORANDUM

TO:             Mayor MacLean, Members of the City Council, and Department Heads
FROM:     Scott Morelli, City Manager
DATE:     November 19, 2010
RE:             Weekly Memo

UPCOMING MEETINGS

Next Week's City Meetings are available on our Calendar

Below please find an update on recent City activities:

  • Members of the Wastewater Advisory Board and Wright-Pierce Engineering held a neighborhood meeting last night with residents of West Street.  The meeting focused on how Wright-Pierce planned to address the sewer odors that some of the West Street residents are experiencing.  This spring the results of the study and proposal by Wright-Pierce will be reviewed by the WWAB and a recommendation will be made to the Council as to how to best eliminate sewer odors from that area
  • Nearly all of the lights at the waterfront are now operational. Speaking of the waterfront, I was pleased to attend the sculpture unveiling this afternoon by local artist Rob Lash.  This work is a great addition to our beautiful new waterfront!  (See photo below)
  • A special thank you to Savings Bank of Maine for contributing $12,000 to help enhance waterfront security.  Their donation was critical in getting a wireless security camera network to monitor multiple locations.  I would also like to thank the Council for allocating additional funding to this project so that wireless internet service can be made available to waterfront visitors.  The contractor will begin camera installation at the end of this month
  • The October financial update is attached
  • A reminder that City Hall will be closed next Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving
As always, I appreciate the opportunity to serve the people of Gardiner as City Manager.
