WEEKLY MEMORANDUM

TO:             Mayor MacLean, Members of the City Council, and Department Heads
FROM:     Scott Morelli, City Manager
DATE:     December 10, 2010
RE:             Weekly Memo

UPCOMING MEETINGS
Next week's meeting agenda
Next Week's City Meetings are available on our Calendar

Below please find an update on recent City activities:

  • Congratulations to Police Chief Jim Toman, who this week celebrated his 20th year as a member of the Gardiner PD!  We are fortunate to have a chief who has been with us for so long and who is very dedicated to the job of keeping Gardiner residents safe.
  • Congratulations to the Gardiner Library Association for receiving a $5,000 grant from the Maine Community Foundation.  This new grant will be used during the Phase 3 plan for the Community Archives Room.  The Gardiner Public Library Archives Room mission is to collect items that pertain to the local history of the lower Kennebec River Valley.
  • Due to a new assessment formula, the City of Gardiner will be paying approximately $65,000 LESS for dispatch services!  Our costs will now be just over $60,000, as opposed to the projected $125,000.
As always, I appreciate the opportunity to serve the people of Gardiner as City Manager.
