UPCOMING MEETINGS
Next Week's City Meetings are available on our Calendar
Library Grant
The Library has received a $25,000 grant from the Davis Family Foundation. This is a critical award in support of the library renovations. The grant will match the New Century funding from earlier this year. The exciting result is one half of the ground floor renovation funds are in hand at this moment. New HVAC, stacks, lighting and carpets will bring the main floor up to the same spectacular condition as the Children’s Room. This is a project the entire community can be proud of with substantial aesthetic and economic impact. Congratulations Anne!
Waterfront Grant
The Governor awarded Gardiner/Augusta a $495,000 River Bond grant on Thursday. Mayor MacLean was invited to speak at the event as the “poster child” project example of the fourteen projects with awards. This award is highly notable in many respects. The project takes a regional approach with Gardiner and Augusta tendering a joint application that embodied many of the regional principles of both the Kennebec River Initiative and the Kennebec International
Chaudière corridor. We are also expecting that the major portion of the remaining waterfront improvements can be done this coming construction season. This is clearly very exciting. Congratulations Jason!
Holiday Luncheon
Dave Cichowski serenading, while enjoying Olive Garden delicacies – no, it is not a dream (or nightmare!) it is the real thing - our Holiday Luncheon December 24 at noon! Please join us. (Great prizes and special gifts too!)
Holiday Hours
Non essential services will be closed at noon of December 24, and all day Friday December 26 and Friday January 2 so that employees may spend extended time with family and friends over the holidays.
Inauguration
Council Inauguration is scheduled for January 14 at the Boys and Girls Club. Two facilitated workshops for long range planning will be held January 21 and 28. We will be back to a regular schedule with our business meeting on February 4.
