Water District Improvement Projects
The Gardiner Water District has been fairly aggressive in pursuing very necessary infrastructure projects in recent years. Replacement of a major water main in Farmingdale as Rte 201 was reconstructed, similar work in Randolph and the Northwest Quadrant project in Gardiner were each a significant project unto themselves. Each of these projects were models of efficient use of limited resources; the Farmingdale project being coordinated with an MDOT project led to significant cost savings as the Water District shared the road reconstruction costs rather than bearing them entirely, Randolph’s project benefited from a CDBG award, and the Northwest Quadrant combined all these elements, almost a $1,000,000 in grant funding and road reconstruction shared among several public services.
The Water District has kept rates flat since 1999 while experiencing revenue decreases, but these important investments will impact rates. Water District President Bill Barron and Superintendent Paul Gray will soon visit with the Council to discuss rate increases associated with these vital projects.
Council Schedule
We will meet with Pam Plumb on January 17th and have a business meeting January 24th.
